Oats Upma


Ingredients
Oats - 1 1/2 cups
green Chilli - 2 (cut lengthwise)
Ginger - 1 tsp (minced)
Curry leaves - 1 spring
mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Asafetida - a pinch
Chopped Almonds - a few (optional)
Water - 1 1/4 cups
Oil/Ghee - 1 tsp + 2 tsps
Salt - as per taste

Method
1.In a kadai,roast the dry oats without oil for three minutes and transfer it to a plate.

2.Heat 1tsp of oil in same kadai,roast the almonds and transfer it to another plate.

3.Now heat 2tsp oil,add mustard seeds,when they splutter,add urad dal,green chilli,curry leaves,ginger,Asafetida and saute for a couple of mins or until urad dal turns golden brown.

4.Then pour the water,when it starts to boil,add salt to it.

5.now add oats and mix well and cook for 5 mins with lid closed.(Stir once or twice to avoid sticking or burning at the bottom.)

6.Remove the lid,gently stir and cook until water is all evaporated and left dry.

7.Switch off flame...garnish with roasted almonds and offer.
