Tamrind rice


Ingredients
Rice - 1 cup
groundnuts - 1/2 cup
green chilli - 3(slit them length wise)
finely chopped ginger - 1 tsp
turmeric powder - a pinch
salt as per taste
Tamrind - a lemon size
Hing - a pinch
jaggery - little(optional)

Seasoning
Oil - 4 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chillies - 1 or 2 (cut each into 2 pieces)
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - A few

Method
1.Soak the Tamarind in water for 20-30 minutes. Extract the tamarind juice and keep aside.

2.Cook Rice and keep it aside.

3.Heat oil in a kadai,add seasoning and allow it to splutter.

4.Now add groundnuts,green chilli,ginger,hing,turmeric.saute until groundnut turn to gold colour.

5.Now add Tamrind juice,jaggery and salt.Once it starts boiling,keep the stove in medium heat for 25-30 minutes or until the curry is reduced and thickened.

6.Now the tamarind paste is ready and add this paste to the cooked rice and mix well.
