Ingredients
Pressed rice/Atukulu/poha - 1/4 cup
Idly Rava - 1 cup
urad dal - 1/4 cup
Cooking soda - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil/ghee - for greasing idly plates
Method
1.Wash and Soak poha,urad dal together in water for 2 hours.
2.Wash and Soak Idly rava in water for 2 hours.
3.Now drain the water from urad dal,poha and grind them to a smooth batter by adding little water.Transfer into a tall bowl.
4.Drain/squeeze excess water in the rava,combine it to the ground batter and mix well.
5.Allow batter to ferment in a warm place for about 8-10 hours. Make sure the container has enough room for the batter to rise.
6.Add salt,cooking soda and mix well.Rest for 5 mins.The batter is now ready to make idlis.
7.Grease idli maker plates with some oil/ghee and fill with idli batter.
8.Steam covered for about 15mins and remove each idli carefully with a spatula.
9.Spongy Poha idlis are ready to offer for the Lord.
